🕯 THE STILL POINT #7
When Rest Feels Like Risk
Have you had that moment when you finally stop..
And instead of relief, something tightens.
I’ve felt that…..so many what if’s….
Rest can feel risky.
As if slowing down might expose something we’ve been outrunning.
A fear.
A doubt.
An unfinished grief.
So we stay busy.
Not because it’s wise, but because it’s familiar.
Often, the story underneath sounds like this,
“If I pause, I’ll lose ground.”
“If I rest, I’ll fall behind.”
“If I stop, something will catch me.”
But rest isn’t the enemy of faithfulness.
It’s often the doorway to honesty.
What surfaces in stillness isn’t failure.
It’s information.
Signals from parts of us that haven’t had a voice yet.
I’m learning that the unease that comes with rest
is not a warning sign.
It’s an invitation.
Not to act.
Not to decide.
Just to stay.
What are you afraid might surface
if you truly allowed yourself to rest?
