FRIDAY | STILL POINT #5
Before You Speak, Notice This
A Quiet Question Before the Year Turns
As the year slows, many leaders notice something they didn’t expect.
Not exhaustion exactly.
A lack of joy.
The work still matters.
The role still fits.
But the delight feels muted.
This is often a signal, not a failure.
Before the new year begins, take a moment and ask yourself one gentle question:
Where has joy thinned in my leadership?
Don’t analyse it.
Just notice.
Joy doesn’t disappear because leaders stop caring.
But it can disappear when leaders stop being known
You may not need rest as much as you need resonance.
A conversation that doesn’t require explanation.
A peer who understands the weight without needing context.
Peace with people restores joy faster than most strategies ever could.
As you head into Christmas and the new year, consider this one small action:
Notice which peer you’ve grown distant from.
And reach out.
You don’t need to carry it all.
And you were never meant to.
